I was fortunate last week to be invited along to #LightUpBrookfield – a festive campaign by the team from Brookfield Place, which saw 5 buildings along the terrace lit up with a magical Christmas montage. It was all very impressive.
As we watched for darkness to fall, a group of lucky tweeters gathered at Bobeche Bar, below the Heritage for a welcome beverage and a few nibbles.
It was my first visit to Bobeche and I have to say I’m a fan. Felt like walking into a Boardwalk Empire episode – the dark décor, the music, the barman – it all worked a treat!
I had arrived a touch early, so I initially took the opportunity to perch at the bar and peruse the drinks menu. Quite extensive, with an interesting selection of cocktails available.
I saw a few familiar faces arrive so took joined them in our designated function area, where a few platters of Charcuterie plates – complete with tongue, rillettes, parfait, chorizo, bresaola, copa – had been laid out.
As well as this they also had some plates of the Risotto rice balls, Emmental, Romesco. I am a big arancini fan so was quick to sample one of these. Yum! I especially liked the tomatoy sauce that came along with them. Plenty of flavour.
I only had white wine on this visit, school night and all, but I have to say that I’m keen to head back for one of their cocktails some time soon!
The Little Gem (Tanqueray gin, Creme Yvette, grapefruit and lemon juice, Absinthe) was so decadently fragrant, while old favourite the Long Island Ice Tea served in a teapot with dainty cups and saucers was a firm favourite with those in attendance. Suited the prohibition theme they had going, shall we say, to a tea
It’s something a little different and it has a warm, welcoming feeling and I’ve no doubt is proving a popular addition to the growing Perth bar scene. Look forward to visiting again soon!
