My nana lives in Glen Forrest and she’s slightly set in her ways when it comes to eating out. One place on her approved list is a Chinese Restaurant on Greenmount Hill called DragonVillage. It has been there for years and I’ve been there many a time. We decided to visit here for mother’s day and were definitely glad we’ve booked as the place was full to the brim!
We managed to place our order just before some of the larger groups did, so we didn’t have long to wait for our meals. We started with a couple of serves of their spring rolls and they were seriously delicious and I’m not just saying that because it was dinner time and I was hungry. They really were pretty good. Full of chunky ingredients and the dipping sauce was a nice mix of sweet and sour. I suspect I could have eaten a dozen of them.
Then for our mains we decided on 4 dishes to share. We tend to get the same dishes on each visit, but given they have proven to be consistently good I don’t think that’s a bad way to go. So first up was a serve of their fried rice. Plenty in it, not too oily and just good fried rice.
The lemon chicken here is one of my favourites, with its crispy batter and tangy lemon sauce.
The king prawns with vegetables was also very tasty.
As was the Crispy Plum Duck. While not much to look at, it is seriously good! The duck is perfectly cooked and is just the right amount of chewy.
I loaded my plate up with all four and was feeling well fed by the end of the meal.
The décor might not be flash, but the service is friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced and the food is consistently good. It’s a nice place for a family meal and well worth a drive up the hill!
