I went to Sydney for a few days last week for work and it was great. Some really productive meetings, a chance to catch up with a very good friend of mine for dinner at an entirely wonderful Greek restaurant and just generally a nice change of scene from the office. But I was back at my desk on Thursday and Friday and I just don’t know where those two days went! They were a mad rush, a crazy blur and a race to reply to a week’s worth of emails in two days. So when I got home on Friday night, cooking dinner was the furthest thing from my mind. “No way Jose” thought this weary lazy bones. So I thought it was a prime opportunity to try out Menulog. I’d been sent through a voucher to give this website a go and on a night when I had no plans to get my Masterchef on, I embraced the idea of food being delivered to my door.
“Get food delivered to Perth suburbs from 190 restaurants with 516 specials! There are more than 31 cuisines available across Perth takeaway restaurants including Pizza, Thai, Indian, Chinese… Order Online and get your food delivered right to your door!”
And it’s as easy as this. Head on over to www.menulog.com.au and pop your postcode in. You’ll then be provided with a list of all the places in your suburb that will deliver. For our suburb there were 15 options including pizza, pasta and Indian. Each restaurant offers different specials and there are various minimum delivery spends and delivery fees but it’s all very easy to navigate.
We carefully considered the different choices and narrowed it down to pizza or Indian, but our love of butter chicken won out on this occasion. Since we hadn’t tried it before, we went with Rasoi Indian Restaurant which is on Scarborough beach road in Osborne Park. We stuck with our standard order and locked in Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Steamed Rice and 2 Plain Naan, because you have to have naan when you have Indian 🙂
The order was placed at about 6.15pm and about 5 minutes after placing it online I received an SMS letting me know that the order had been received and providing me an expected delivery time…7.17pm – quite specific! And not too bad a turnaround time really for having food delivered to your door.
So we patiently waited, while watching the Friday night footy, and then a touch before 7 my mobile rang and it was the friendly delivery man letting me know he was at the front door. It probably worked out well that he called instead of knocking, just that Chablis loves to bark the place down when people knock on our door. The delivery man was a very friendly chap who gave me our food and wished us a good night.
I hurried inside with the bag and set up the dishes on the kitchen counter.
Oh the heady aroma of Indian food. All those delectable herbs and spices in the flavoursome sauces. Quick grab a spoon! We started to pile up our plates. I like to place the rice down the centre as a divider to the two sauces. It’s just how I roll. We then sliced up the naan into more manageable pieces and sat down to eat. The food was really lovely. Plenty of meat in both dishes and there was a real richness to each of the sauces. There is something so indulgent about dunking naan into some sauce and then balancing on a little rice and a piece of chook. Carb on carb. I love it.
It had been a very positive introduction to Menulog. It’s a really easy website to use and gets huge bonus marks for convenience, given that all your delivery options are sorted by suburb and it’s as easy as entering yours in and seeing what’s available. The hardest decision is choosing what to eat from all the choices.
So next time you are having one of those ‘I just don’t fancy cooking’ moments, then head on over to Menulog for a look. They can help you have your dinner on the table before you know it!
