Tis the season to be jolly and heading out for a nice breakie before work on a Friday certainly fits the jolly bill in my book 🙂 Jacs was a place I had visited for lunch earlier in the year and loved and then also caught up with a friend for dinner. Both of those visits had been delicious so I couldn’t wait to sample their breakfast offerings.
So the finance team’s four lady contingent decided that we should go out for breakfast and given that Jacs was close to the office it was the perfect choice. It’s a decent sized cafe with seating available outside under the jakarandas or inside, which was our choice on this visit given the weather was warming up as summer took hold.
Feeling festive I threw caution to the wind and thought I’d make this breakfast champagne, or at least bubbly, so I went for a glass of the Bay of Fires Pinto Chardonnay NV (Tasmainia) ($9). It was a delightful drop.
On the food front I thought the Breakfast Bruschetta – poached eggs, fresh cherry tomatoes, proscuitto, red onion, goat’s cheese and basil, Sourdough toast ($18) sounded amazing. And when it arrived I was definitely not disappointed! It’s a mountain of fresh ingredients piled on top of perfectly crispy toast.
And of course the big test of any dish that include a poached egg was the first cut…… happy sighs for poached egg perfection. Wonderfully oozy goodness, will you look at that yellow gold. With the zesty balsamic dressing on the sweet cherry tomatos and the caramelised red onions and proscuitto and the creamy fabulousness of the goat’s cheese, it was a winning combination!
All attendees seemed equally as pleased with their selections – the Eggs Florentine looked amazing too! (Especially with the side of bacon)
Service had been swift and friendly and there wasn’t much of a delay in our dishes arriving. I couldn’t wait to head back for another breakfast there some time again soon!
