“Be the change you want to see in the world”
There’s something special about meeting passionate people. Those that have had an idea of something they want to do, then remained focused, determined and have put in the hard yards to make it a reality. So it was lovely recently to hear from Sujit and Dear, the passionate pair behind Juice Station, a cold pressed juice store in Perth’s CBD.

A well travelled couple who have visited more than 30 countries and previously spent 12 years working in the corporate space, they fell in love with Australia and decided to settle down in Perth. They made the decision to open their juice store after witnessing first hand the positive impact and benefits of a plant based diet, which focuses on fresh fruit and vegetables. They talk more about this on their website….
In 2012 Sujit was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (IBD) and was prescribed medication that he would continue for the rest of his life. Medicines (steroids and immunosuppressant) are harmful and we thought there must be an alternative. After a lot of online research, Sujit followed a raw diet based on the theory of a Canadian Scientist. The diet consisted of vegetables, fruits, soups & raw food. Sujit recovered after 4 weeks but continued the diet for another 18 months and is now healthy and fit without the prescribed medication. In this journey of 1.5 years, we learned a lot of recipes of healthy juices, smoothies and raw snacks. We became even more passionate about such food.
It would be a life changing experience to see someone close to you benefit so positively from a change in diet and so Sujit and Dear decided to harness this passion into their own juice business. And so began Juice Station. A modestly sized store in the ever bustling London Court, it is brightly coloured and its neon signs beckons you closer.

Once inside, the smiling face of Dear welcomes you and you can peruse the menu or if you need some advice then Dear is on hand to suggest what you might enjoy depending on how you are feeling. Looking to be energised? Or maybe chasing an intense veggie hit? Want to improve digestion? She’ll be able to help choose one of their juices that would be the best fit.

In Perth City, it’s hard to find places where you can get such raw food. So we decided to do something about it. And the idea of Juice Station came to our mind. We wanted people to have an easy option in the city to get raw juices, smoothies and snacks that are free from sugar, processed food and preservatives.
Their menu currently offers 11 cold pressed juices, 6 plant based smoothies, along with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh watermelon juice and also wheatgrass and ginger shots. But be assured if you have your own flavour combination that you’ve prefer they are happy to oblige. Plus if you are after something to eat along with your drink they currently also stock protein balls and raw treats from Made By Chris.
Whatever takes your fancy I’m sure one of their offering will do the job. Each juice is made in store with a rigorous process followed to ensure the best produce is chosen, it is thoroughly cleaned and when cold pressed it is stored for optimum flavour and freshness. Nothing else is added, bar the lovely fresh ingredients, which is a definite plus.
One offering that they have which I think is perfect for first time visitors is a juice tasting paddle. You get to try four sample sizes of their juices, which is an ideal way to help figure out your favourite. I also found it useful to able to compare how sweet one juice was to the next. I sometimes find juice can be quite sweet, but several of the Juice Station juices are more vegetable focused so it was great to have that option, if that is also your preference.

I’ve tried a few of the Juice Station juices now, these ones:
- Antioxidant – Red Apple, Beetroot, Mint Leaves, Watermelon
- Beauty Plus – Apple, Carrot, Lemon, Red Bell-pepper
- Empty Tank – Green Apple, Celery, Cucumber, Kale, Lemon, Romaine Lettuce
- Green Detox – Apple, Cucumber, Ginger, Green Capsicum, Kale, Lemon, Spinach
- Naked Mojito – Green Apple, Mint, Pineapple
I enjoyed each in their own way and think it was great that they’ve carefully considered the flavour combinations, so they are complimentary and provide different health benefits. For me, the Naked Mojito was a real stand out. It was very refreshing and had a welcome tropical flair to it, without being overly sweet. Similarly I think that’s what I liked about Green Detox. It still was largely a green juice, very veggie focussed, but not with the same intensity of the Empty Tank. That’s perhaps for those who are very much chasing something with a stronger green flavour, one for green juice purists. The Green Detox had a pleasing citrus zap from the lemon. But let your mood dictate what you choose and always remember that Dear is always more than happy to guide you towards what will best suit.
Along with their focus on using the best and freshest ingredients the Juice Station team also want to ensure their impact on the environment is minimised. Their juices are served in glass bottles with metal caps, labelled with paper tags and cotton string and served with paper straws. They consider themselves to be 99% plastic free store, because while they do offer paper cups, they are still searching for an illusive non plastic cup lid, and so currently use a biodegradable as the best available option, but the efforts they’ve already made on this front are incredibly admirable. They want to incentive people to support their recycling efforts too and you can get a discount on your next juice if you return the bottle. It’s a team effort to make a difference on this front.

The Juice Station’s mission it to “Provide healthy products without harming the environment or the health of our customers.” I think they are doing a stellar job on this front and the high quality of their products speaks for itself. So next time you are in the mood for a juice then keep this London Court gem in mind.
