I have meant to post this for the longest time……. slightly delayed. It was the last lunch GG and I had together before we became Mr and Mrs GG the next day 🙂 We decide that in amongst all the running around we had to do that taking five for a bite was the best thing to do. So since I was near Maylands and GG was in Osborne Park, we decided that Leederville was relatively central to us both so set a rendezvous time of 12pm at Kailis. We’d bought some seafood from them before but never eaten in, but the time seemed right. Arriving right on 12 it was relatively easy to get a table and we sat ourselves down and perused the menu.
We started by ordering a glass of the house white and the house red respectively and it was actually quite decent, as was the selection available on the menu! So many tasty options. We thought the best way to go was to get a few of the smaller plates and share them together. Sharing is caring after all 🙂
We started with a bowl of the Crispy whitebait, lightly seasoned, served with island dressing and lime ($15.90) and well you can’t have fish without chips right! So we essentially had to order a Bowl of Chips ($8.00) – it was just good maths 🙂 The fish was so nice! I think my only wish was that they maybe snuck another piece each on the plate. The light batter was perfect with the white, flakey fish. Really yummo! And the chips were fine. A decent sized serving, but I had perhaps wished they were just a touch hotter – fresh from the fryer. Could have just been a timing issue with getting the others dishes ready is all….. maybe leave them til last next time.
Up next we refreshed the palette with a serve of the Sashimi grade Hiramasa kingfish with Kailis organic lime olive oil, salted capers, Spanish onion and a pinch of sweet smoked paprika ($23.50). I looked the zesty lime with the wonderfully fresh fish! Great combination, especially with the dusting of the paprika and the salt from the capers. Very much enjoyed it!
Our final seafood salute was the Soft Shell Crab with chilli and coriander dressing ($19.50). I didn’t mind it but it had a stronger seafood in parts so it wasn’t my favourite. GG loved it though!
Overall I enjoyed our visit and the quality time I got to spend with fiance GG before he became husband GG the next day was always going to enhance the experience 🙂 The food had been high quality and I had expected no less given what I had sampled on the other side in the store. I had found that the prices were a little on the expensive side for the servings, but I had thoroughly enjoyed what we had had, and the service had been so friendly.
So if ever in the need of a high quality seafood fix, I’ll know where to head 🙂
