Every now and then someone will ask me for suggestions of places around town for High Tea. There is definitely one name renowned for providing arguably the best High Tea experience in Perth and that is Rochelle Adonis. Now I haven’t actually partaken in a Rochelle Adonis High Tea (yet – it is booked for next month), but being partial to social media I have seen many stunning photos of other people’s experiences there. And I have been along for one of her Dessert Degustations and it was an amazing sugar filled night. Rochelle Adonis also created a stunning dessert course at a previous WA Breast Cancer Care’s Long Table Lunch and her nougat did make an appearance in an Urban Locavore box. All of these tantalizing tastes just further enhanced my appreciation for her sweet treats.
So when I recently received an email invitation to the house warming for her new premises on Beaufort Street I was more than a little excited. On what was a fairly blustery Winter evening I arrived at the well lit new home for the Rochelle Adonis team and strutted my way along the red carpet to the warmth inside. It strikes you as soon as you arrive what a pretty space it is. Such care has been taken with all the details. Collections of cute prints adorn the walls and light fixtures have been carefully selected to add some extra sparkle. There is an understated glamour to the fit out and I could only envisage that a High Tea here would be a special experience.
The place held an ample crowd, all enjoying a glass of Mumm, keen to celebrate the move to the larger new premises. Soon enough, along with the very choice champagne, guests were also offered an absolutely spectacular array of Rochelle Adonis’s culinary creations, including her signature nougats! Surveying the selection just filled me with joy. The decadent dark chocolate salted caramel truffles, the mountain of marvellous macarons, the lovely lemon meringue pies, the berry tartlets, charming chocolate cupcakes – it was dazzling and hard to know where to start! I started with one of my long time favourites, the lemon meringue pie and it was divine. The salted caramel truffle was an indulgent delight and I couldn’t get enough of the nougat! Talk about being incredibly spoilt! I’ll take dessert for dinner any day thanks 🙂
We then heard from the lady herself, who spoke of her journey and how after five incredible years at her Northbridge studio the time was right to move across to Beaufort Street. She thanked her team for all their hard work with the move and raised a glass to their continued success at their Highgate address.
Cheers to you Rochelle Adonis – your desserts are delightful and I have no doubt your studio will be a very welcome addition to the Beaufort Street strip.
A big thank you for the invitation and the chance to be a part of your house warming and I cannot wait to head along for High Tea next month! 🙂
