Now as I hope is vastly apparent I’m very much Team WA and love to wave the flag for all things Perth food, but I’ll be honest, I don’t mind at all when a few East Coasters make a brief appearance in our fair city. Especially when one of them has a piece of cake I have seen many, many times on social media and have been dreaming about trying. So get excited folks because the Noodle Market Mafia are visiting Western Australia next week for the 2016 instalment of the Night Noodle Markets at the shiny new Elizabeth Quay. I will finally get to try Black Star Pastry’s beautiful and famous Watermelon and Strawberry Cake – yay!!! Such a photogenic cake and I’m highly confident that it will taste as amazing as it looks.

So who makes up the state-hopping Night Noodle Mafia? It’s Bao Stop, Hoy Pinoy, Everybody Loves Ramen and a combined dessert stand from Black Star Pastry and N2 Extreme Gelato. You may remember Hoy Pinoy from last year, they were super popular and had prepped over 20,000 of their delicious skewers and I’m sure even more are in the works for this year. Here’s a sneak peek of some of the delicious items the Noodle Market Mafia teams will have on the menu:

Black Star Pastry – was the creation of Christopher Thé and began back in 2008. “Black Star Pastry is about real food. We work the old fashioned way, handmade with love and integrity. We strive to capture the beauty contained in nature, and bring it to you with as little tinkering as possible. We source our own produce from market so that we get only the best quality and are in tune with the seasons. We will not use flavourings, dyes or anything unnatural in our food. We want you to taste immediacy, freshness and life.”
N2 Extreme Gelato – “We are a maddening bunch, cream-puff-crazy over creating flavours that have only existed in the collective imaginations of the Nasalis Larvatus. We don’t do skinny, fat free desserts (get some I-feel-so-delusionally-healthy-eating-powder-made-frozen-desserts-served-with-oh-so-cute-toppings for those). We are indulgent and we make no apologies for it. We source our full cream milk and fresh cream from local dairies, we use real fruits, fresh herbs, weird and wacky ingredients we stumble across in our made to order gelato and sorbet.”

Everybody Loves Ramen: “Based in Melbourne but can be found at events and festivals all around Australia. We love ramen. In fact, we love ramen so much that we try to incorporate it into all of our dishes. We use traditional Japanese flavours as inspiration to create new and delicious menu items such as our beloved Ramen Fried Chicken and Ramen Burger. Everybody Loves Ramen is all about Japanese fusion cuisine that’s easily accessible to everybody. Our menu is inspired by memorable Japanese flavours and dishes such as chashu pork belly, tonkatsu and miso but we put them together in non traditional ways ie. Ramen Burger and Ramen Fried Chicken.”
