Saturday morning and GG snuck into work early to get a couple of hours in and I geared up for the launch of the new Les Mills classes at the gym – Body Combat at 8.15, back to back with Body Pump at 9.15. Totally brutal combination and the new releases were excellent! Can’t wait to give them another go.
We had a list of domestic duties to tick off on the Saturday, washing, food shopping, etc, so we thought we’d refuel before we set out, so after a quick flick through the Entertainment Book we thought we’d give the Rosemount Hotel a go, given it wasn’t too far from home, and a two for one lunch is always a plus.
It was probably about 11.45ish when we arrived so the back beer garden area wasn’t very full and we wandered up the bar and ordered a beer and had a look through the menu. Was a decent selection – pizzas, burgers, chicken parm, steak sandwiches, etc…. the usual suspects really. I was happy about a steak sandwich being on the menu, because it was just what I was after. The description sounded like a winner too – a succulent grilled steak, lettuce, tomato, sauteed onion, aioli and tomato relish in a turkish bread roll served with fresh hand cut chips – and for $11.50, seemed just too good to pass up. So we both ordered one of those and I went with a pint of Golden Ale and GG went for a Stella Artois.
It was a beautiful day outside and it didn’t take long for our metals to arrive and they looked delicious!
The friendly staff had let us know that they’ve recently started using some new chips and they did look delicious!! Sort of had a spicey salt added. Loved them – crisp and perfect….. had it been a while since I had a chip, maybe? They were great though!
And then on to the steak sandwich – what a tasty treat. The turkish bread had a slight herb through it and the tomato relish had a bit of heat. The combination with the lettuce and a little bit of aioli, with a really decent cut of meat, worked so well. Really, really good steak sandwich, up with there with ones I’d enjoyed at places like Fibber McGees in Leederville and at the Inglewood Hotel, or even down at Settlers in Margaret River. Excellent steak sandwiches – always good to find one locally.
I would totally go back again! Reasonable prices, friendly staff and excellent place to enjoy the sunshine… plus out the back they had a giant Connect Four set – fun times!!
