This may come as a surprise to some, but I like to eat out. 🙂 However I can’t say that GG and I are big “Going out for breakfast” people. Not sure why that is, but a lunch or dinner out seems to fit into our schedule a little easier. But recently when GG’s niece Lil J stayed with us, we thought it would be nice, before we drove her way back to Serpentine, to head out for breakfast. We set off about 9am and I was not confident that we’d be able to get a table at the place I’d chosen but we gave it a go and lady luck was on our side.
I had pancakes on my mind so thought back to where I’d been before that had fantastic flap jacks……. Enter Lincolns 102! I’d been introduced to Lincolns by my bestie many moons ago and we’d caught up there for breakfast on a few occasions so I thought it would fit the bill this fine Sunday morning.
So as mentioned while it was pretty busy we seemed to have arrived just as a few tables left and were sat just out the front, where thankfully it wasn’t too breezy. I went inside to grab some menus and got caught day dreaming over the amazing selection of cakes they had on show. Oh so good. I have to go back from a slice of their orange cake one day. It looked divine.
So with menus in hand I headed outside where we carefully deliberated over what to have. Well they deliberated, as soon as I saw the raspberry pancakes with orange and cinnamon syrup on the menu I knew what I was having. GG went for the full breakfast with a flat white, while Lil J ordered fried eggs on toast with bacon on the side and a hot chocolate.
I placed the order and will the first to admit I was really impressed with the turnaround time in getting our meals! Very snappy – it was great!
GG’s was quite an impressive spread – perfect for a growing lad. Eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, little snags and fresh toasted bread. It all looked great and came fairly well seasoned and the added bonus was the amazing little dish of homemade relish! As GG said the zesty taste of the relish really bought his breakfast together and made it something really special.
Lil J also liked her breakfast. And she did put a respectable dent in her impressive plate of bacon and eggs. I didn’t take a photo of her hot chocolate but her attention was definitely on this drink. It came served as a tall glass of hot milk with a dainty jug of melted chocolate on the side. And I can tell you now that there was not a drop of chocolate left! One very clean jug. Gotta love a sweet tooth 🙂
And mine…….. did it live up to the memory? It surely did!! I thought the pancakes looked so thick and fluffy and I liberally poured the orange and cinnamon syrup all over them! And with each bite I spread a little of the almond cream on top. Wow…… amazing!! I started fairly strong, but I had to recruit some of my fellow breakfast guests to help me finish!
Hard to comment on service, you go up and order and the girl had been very friendly behind the counter and the fellow that bought our breakfast was nice – no complaints on what I experienced. I think its a really lovely spot for breakfast. It’s off the main Beaufort St drag and feels a little more secluded. I really like it. Lovely, lovely – worth a visit 🙂
