I’d not been to Pizzetta Bar before but I’d driven past on the way home on many, many occasions and it really wasn’t far from where I live, so that was a bonus. So on this particular Saturday, GG and I perused the website in the afternoon, each deciding on one of our pizza choices. I like the way they laid out their menu with either Old School Traditional or New School Gourmet. I kept things more old school with my choice of their take on the supreme, while GG mixed things up with one of the chickeny choices from the new school menu.
We placed an order for take away, though there is a few chairs and tables available on site if you fancy dining in. Our order was ready and waiting when we arrived and the delicious pizza smell filled the car and we just couldn’t get home fast enough!
I started with a slice of the one I had chosen, the Starvo Supreme (SUP) – Ham, mushroom, capsicum, pineapple, bacon, pepperoni, and olives. Definitely can’t fault the beautiful, fresh ingredients they use. They distinguish themselves from a more chain style option given the abundance of toppings they have. And yes, there’s no denying that what’s on top is important, but the base is always going to be a key consideration of how good a pizza is. The bases on offer from Pizzetta are well made. Not too fat and not too crispy thin, they’ve foudn the balance well.
I did enjoy this pizza, but one comment by both GG and I was that the best mouthfuls were the ones that included some of the pepperoni, seemed to really enhance the flavour. I think it would be a note for next time that I would probably go for double pepperoni. Perhaps, yes, this is a little indulgent, but it gave the overall flavour of the pizza a bit more depth.
Now as well as the two pizzas we also scored a loaf of their garlic bread and it was fab!! I’m a big garlic bread fan and one of my big gripes in recent times has been garlic bread that just isn’t that garlicy. Well this was wonderful and I so loved their bread choice. It was more like a sour dough style loaf than a lighter baguette and i’ll admit I was not adverse to the heavier bread. Very, very tasty!
So it had been a wonderful night in with some quality pizza and two thumbs up for the garlic bread. Was it my new fave pizza place in Perth? I’ll admit that it didn’t knock my number one off its post, but they have a solid offering of pizzas on their menu, friendly staff and an enitcing range of gelati available if you fancy a sweet treat after your pizza inguldence.
I have no doubt that for North Perth locals Pizzetta would be a popular choice 🙂
