Wanting to continue enjoying the Spring sunshine fun after our lunching at the Oxford on Saturday we let the good times roll and decided we would lunch it up at the Royal on Sunday. I quite like the Royal, such a pretty spot along the Claisebrook Cove and just perfect for the ideallic conditions 🙂
We arrived a touch before 12 and as with the day before I went with cider, today my drink of choice was Monteith’s Pear Cider and GG stuck with his gal Stella 🙂
Time for food, food, food! We perused the menu and given I knew that the Royal made a mean pizza as soon as I saw the pizza special I was sold! Chorizo, bacon, Spanish onion, spinach, mushroom, chilli and bbq sauce (1/2 slab $24) sounded just too good to pass up! So I locked in a half slab, while GG went for Robbins Island Wagyu Burger, continental bacon and tomato relish, capel cheddar, lettuce, aioli, sesame bun and fried ($25).
We were in a delightful spot just inside the main bar area. We perched and chatted and flicked through a copy of the Sunday Times that was just near our table and sipped our drinks and before we knew it our food arrived. I loved the look of the pizza. A very generous half plank with ample toppings! Plenty of pieces of spicy chorizo, chunky mushroom, a colorful smattering of spinach and a decorative swirl of bbq sauce. It was a nice contrast, the spice of the chorizo and the sweetness from the sauce. The base was light and crispy and the all together combination was just plain yum. Totally happy with my choice.
Across the table there were some equally as appreciative murmurings from GG. He was loving the burger. He even offered me a bite and I’ll admit it was delicious. I think the relish really bought all the burger ingredients together. Very tasty burger!
So it had been another pleasing pub lunch. Perfectly pretty spot by the water and I had really enjoyed the food. So cheers to the sunny weather, cheers to cider and cheers to the weekend! Here’s hoping the next one rolls around again soon!
