I was recently invited to a cocktail party at Bistro Guillaume for an apple. Yep an apple. I thought well, well, well isn’t this quite the fancy to do for a piece of fruit? But as I found out that’s how the Jazz™ Apple rolls. In a lavish affair at one of Crown Perth’s premier eateries, they rolled out the red carpet for the Jazz™ Apple launch.
The sounds of jazz music greeted us as we arrived from a jaunty trio, there were decorative arrangements of the red apple throughout the plush restaurant and a large screen showed Jazz™ Apple glamour shots.
We sipped on apple spritzers and apple-tinis (made with freshly squeezed Jazz Apple juice of course) and enjoyed apple inspired canapés. There were several tasty options on this front, the creative Bistro Guillaume team had done very well, from delicious pork belly with pickled cabbage and fresh Jazz™ Apple to salmon tartare with Jazz™ Apple batons. And something for the sweet tooths among us with a Jazz™ Apple creme brûlée and a jelly flavoured with the famous fruit to finish. It had been an apple inspired smorgasbord.
And I have to say that when I got around to actually trying a Jazz™ Apple au naturale I really enjoyed it. Chomp, chomp, chomp. I found it to be not too sweet, which I prefer, and so super crunchy! I can see why the Jazz™ Apple continues to grow in popularity and the season is eagerly anticipated by its fans.
The Jazz™ Apple team clearly have some fresh ideas in terms of their marketing and have embraced all social media avenues in promoting their fine fruit. They are a passionate bunch about how great their apple is. And I think hats off to them! I’ll admit that before the invite came through I hadn’t heard of the Jazz™ Apple, but now I know there’s a relative new kid on the fruit block I suspect it will become my go to apple for my ‘apple a day keeps the doctor away’ ambitions.
Jazz™ Apples are a crunchy, effervescent and distinctively original new variety available in every state throughout Australia. A cross between Gala and Braeburn apples, it has firm but dense flesh and a tangy, sweet flavour.
