A delivery from Fresco Produce

WA FAMILIES SUPPORTING WA FARMERS!! Fresco Produce allows a direct connection between Aussie farmers & customers, and for everyone to come together over their fruit and vegetables.

As a parochial West Australian it has become more and more apparent to me in recent years that I feel quite passionately about trying my best to encourage folks to shop local. Our WA farmers work incredibly hard and their produce is first rate so I believe it is important to get behind them. To take the extra time and have a look at where your fruit and veg, meat, fish, eggs, etc are coming from. Because no doubt about it, local for the win! It hasn’t travelled as far, it’s fresher and you cannot beat the flavour of fresh produce when it is in season. I can appreciate life is busy though and sometimes there isn’t the opportunity to hunt down the best local fresh produce as part of your weekly shop.

This is where a company like Fresco Produce can step in to assist.

Fresco Produce is a family owned and operated delivery business that prides itself on service and quality. We provide a well organised home delivery service delivering direct from Aussie Farmers. We source fresh, local produce from Donnybrook, Pemberton, Manjimup & surrounding farms then deliver straight to your door.

In June 2015. Fresco Produce started delivering top quality locally sourced fresh produce direct from Aussie farmers & growers to the Mandurah area. Since then, we have expanded from Mandurah, to South of the River, and Northern suburbs up to Burns Beach. Fresco Produce now supplies all over Western Australia including Geraldton, Broome & Karratha just to name a few.

So you can opt for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly delivery and Fresco puts together an amazing array of fruit or vegetable boxes which feature the best of the season. So with these mixed boxes you don’t choose what you’ll get but can be assured it’s what you should be eating at that time of year for it to taste it’s best.

I was very impressed when my two Fresco Produce boxes arrived. Even carried to my dining room table by the friendly delivery man.

Wow! Turns out that yes, an 18-20kg box of veg is a lot… as is 8kg of fruit. But how good did it all look! Such beautiful colours. My mind was immediately racing with what recipes I’d like to try out with all this fresh goodness at the ready.

Fresco Produce
So what to make?

On our first evening we enjoyed potato wedges, both sweet and regular, which we’d seasoned with rosemary, salt and pepper, along with Mexican inspired chicken wraps.

We seasoned some Lilydale Chicken tenderloins with Mexican spices and a splash of olive oil, which were then fried before adding them to a wrap, along with some Bookara Goats Curd. Then went in a whole lotta salady goodness, including some of the crunchy lettuce and a corn, tomato and chilli salsa.

If I do say so myself it tasted a bit of alright. Fresh and flavoursome. Plus timewise, it really didn’t take too long, which was perfect for a Sunday night….. and leftovers for Monday lunch, which definitely spiced up my work day.

Breakfast for the week was a fairly epic fruit salad, particularly as it is still stone fruit season and they are at their intense fruity best. The rest of our week with Fresco Produce was a happy blur of colourful stirfries, tasty veggie medleys and interesting salads. I was also able to really veggie-fy a lasagne, adding in grated zucchini and chopped silver beet to help up with our 5 and 2 daily goals. We were nailing that goal easily with thanks to our visit from Fresco! The apples kept me going for morning teas all week at work too and I stewed a few of the plums and they made some pretty tasty plum danishes, which was a nice weekend morning tea treat.

It had been a thoroughly lovely introduction to Fresco Produce and I’m very happy I had the opportunity to try out one of their fruit and veg boxes. I love their focus on working with local farmers and getting their beautiful produce in front of people. It gives you plenty of options for what you can cook during the week and given it changes with the seasons there’s no chance you’ll get bored with your month to month or week to week deliveries. Above all else it’s that convenience factor. Knowing you are getting the best produce available without having to visit the shops and hunt for it yourself. Just wait for that knock on the door.
