Sittella Winery – Seafood and Shiraz Lunch 2010

One of my favourite days of the year is the Sitella Seafood and Shiraz long lunch. A blissful afternoon with my GG in the wintertime sunshine. Last year I pulled up a little dusty after my work’s end of financial year dinner the night before but I was very well behaved this year and felt 110% when I woke up and ready to hit the Valley.

We started the day with a glass of the Sitella sparkling chenin blanc and it really was a brilliant day weather wise – clear blue skies, wonderful! Cheers to that!

We were only a few seats around from where we were sitting last year.Β Isn’t this just the most amazingly beautiful view ever to be sitting and eating lunch near!

I was even impressed by the butter curls

Trying to get arty with the bubbles

Then it was time for the first course – Crispy aromatic duck croquette, stir fried gai larn, sweet and sour glaze

It was amazingly tasty and their presentation is always so good!

Next up was the Entree – Roasted Asparagus, air dried beef and parmesan ice-cream

Next was a fish course – Salad of cured ocean trout, seared scallop, blood orange and coriander. I don’t normally eat fish, but this didn’t have a fishy taste, or any taste really, was more a textural feeling with other flavours added.
Then to cleanse the palette before mains was a delicious – refreshing

I loved it!

Two different tasting with every course – all of the wines gorgeously flavoured
Then the mains were up – Garlic and herb crusted lamb rack with confit shoulder, baby vegetables, Garden pea and mint puree

Then the cheese course, something different – Whipped Blue cheese, deep fried courgette flowers and honey comb

Can’t fault their flavour combinations!

And the final course, the icing on the cake – Cold Lemon soufflΓ©, strawberries and cream jelly, macadamia and caramel ice cream

The cupcake holder for the souffle was made of chocolate – magic!

And this was the wonderful Muscat, delightfully rich and full flavoured

Just the most wonderful day…….. roll on next year’s!
