Qatar Airways – A380 Perth to Doha!

In an exciting development for Perth air travellers Qatar Airways is now flying an A380 from Perth to Doha every day. They are a beautiful spacious plane and I recently got to test drive their business class menu.

It was such a fun experience as our excited group progressed through security and we were shown onto the plane. It was easy to let the mind wander that we were actually taking off. I had venturing onto London in mind. We had the chance to speak to the Senior Manager for Australasia, Adam Radwanski for Qatar and learnt that Qatar Airways is fully focused on allowing people to have the shortest stop overs possible. It was impressive! There could be relatively short waits for your connecting flight if that was for preference. So I imagined I was heading onto London…. or maybe Rome for a big bowl of lovely pasta with a beautiful Italian red wine. Bellissimo!

Being up the front end of the plane checking out the legroom and the space, particularly in first class was next level luxurious. The bathrooms were as big as an ensuite! And if couples had side by side seats they could lower the barrier and it was essentially like a big old double bed. Oh yes, it was very, very impressive and beautifully finished. So plush. And I was definitely thinking…. very much wishing for that one power ball.

From there we were shown to our seats in business class and let me tell you they were not too shabby either, actually the setting was gorgeous. This lovely rosey purple lighting that was a fair bit dreamy and in keeping either the Qatar colouring.

We were first shown to the bar area, which first and business class can adjourn to stretch the legs and enjoy a drink. Champagne choices were tricky business – Krug or Bollinger Rose. Both are a bit of alright I suppose 😉 As we were ushered to our dinner seat I happily slipped away at my glass of Krug. The bubbly glass of happiness had me closer to believing that this plane might take off while we were on it.

My ‘ticket’ was on the window (the business configuration is 1-2-1) and there are a whole range of seat settings to play with. Given we were racing the clock we set the seats to prepare for our meal and as we needed to be off the plane within an hour.

The staff are amazing. So friendly and helpful and they seriously look after you so well. Yes, business class isn’t the cheapest way to fly, but Qatar are focused on ensuring you have the best experience possible.

From French champagne to the creative trio of seafood to start or the stunning lobster mains or the perfectly presented macadamia tart for dessert. It is an entirely delightful way to fly and that’s before you’ve started scrolling through the 3,000 entertainment options available on the Oryx One In-flight Entertainment System!
